New Blog Theme
I created a new theme while I was away in a cabin for the last 5 days. Actually that picture is from some target shooting we did up there.
I think I like it. Feedback?
Sprint Class-Action Suit
Here is away to get $90 or $30 back from Sprint.
There was a Class-Action suit brought against Sprint in regards to their ETF. If you were a customer of Sprint between July 1, 1999 and December 31, 2008 you may be entitled to a reward via settlement.
If you were charged an ETF, you may get $90 (er… the ETF is $200.. but hey, it’s still money back).
If you did not cancel your subscription to Sprint because of fear of being charged of ETF, you may get $30.
I told my mom about this, because we had a Sprint account and she kept complaining of being overcharged, but couldn’t cancel because of the ETF. She doesn’t want the $30, so hey, I’ll take it
Here is a website you can file your claim on

50th Post!
So it’s been a while, thought I’d update my loyal blog readers.
Not too much is going on. I’m in my apartment – i have gas now. FINALLY. I still hate PECO. Watch this, I’m going to get a bill and it’s going to have the other guys stuff on it. We’ll see.
I had company over tonight, we watched spiderman and played Apples to Apples. It’s a cool game, but doesn’t work so well when you only have a three players. I would’ve had more, but it was storming and there were icey roads.
I also downloaded a few things for Firefox.
Mr. Uptime
This is a firefox extension that allows you to create watchlists of websites. it’ll periodically check the websites on the list to see if they are up. Also, you can have it check to see if it contains/doesn’t contain a specific text strings. So like, for example, if when a website responds (like its a very busy website that went offline) you can add it. Mr. Uptime will alert you with whatever method you specify. Also the string thingermabobber is pretty cool. For example, let’s say I’m waiting for a new product to launch – i can have it look for “Windows 7 – now available”, or if I don’t know what it would say when it is available, i could have it check and alert me when it doesn’t say “Windows 7 – temporarily unavailable” and what not. pretty cool. Useful in limited situations, but when those situations come, it’s definitly something you should have.
iimgg.com Tools
Actually, this type of tool probably has a lot of addons that do the same thing. But this was the first thing I saw. Basically this allows you to take a screenshot of a the entire page, the currently visible page, or a specified region on the page. You can then either upload it to iimmgg.com or save it to your disk. I needed to send my friend a list of my stats on CyberNations, and it’s a long page, so I just used this tool. Tadaa magic.
iPox Theme
I’m not much of a theme person. Or rather I haven’t been. I kind of got tired of the Firefox default theme, which while it honestly is friggen awesome, it just got boring. This theme is white-grayish and has some blue in it. The one thing I don’t like is the home button is the an icon of the ipod. If i get the time and can, I’ll change it. cuz it makes me look like a fanboy. And actually, I have a zune… so…
PECO Update
It’s Friday, January 2nd, 10 business days after request was made….
Still no Gas/Electric Service
New Theme
So, I decided to liven things up a bit. I designed this theme using Artisteer. Which is an awesome WYSIWYG editor for making Wordpress themes. It’s pretty awesome. I had to shell out $50 to make sure that my layout wasn’t riddled with a watermark of “TRIAL” all over it. Ugh.
The “standard edition” where you can do more tweaking is $100. Seriously $100!? Why!? Oh well.
I will be doing a bunch of other tweaks to the layout. Fun Fun Fun.
Time to Cancel Your Sprint Contract Is Now
Personally, I didn’t much care for Sprint’s service back when I had it. My mom kept getting overcharged saying how she can’t wait to cancel. But the thing is, you can’t cancel, you have to let your contract expire.
Well for a limited time, you can.
See the reason you can’t cancel is that there is an Early Termination Fee clause which states you have to pay an arbitrary ridiculous $200 fee to be able to cancel. For a very limited time there is a way around this.
There are only very limited circumstances that allow you to escape a contract. One of them is when there are changes made to your contract. Sprint is increasing the administrative fees, which is mentioned in your contract. Since they are making changes after your signing, it is considered a ‘materially adverse change.’ This means you are legally entitled to escape the bindings of your contract.
But…. you are only legally entitled to do this until what is interpreted as consent for change is given. What this means is, if you pay your next bill, that is determined to mean “Ok, I agree with contractual changes.”
So, if you want out of your Sprint contract, (or you want out to get back in as a new customer for promotions) the time is now.
World Series ‘08 Champions
Yeah… I don’t think Philadelphia or its surrounding areas are going to be getting much sleep tonight.
All I hear are horns honking. God bless Philadelphia!
Nice try Tampa Bay, you didn’t go down without a fight, and for that, I bow to you.
Plantronics 222 Bluetooth Headset: DOA
So, awhile ago, my bluetooth earpiece from motorolla broke. it worked as far as communications, but pressing the buttons (volume, and the main button) did nothing. so I couldn’t pick up/end phone calls without using the phone. Which kind of defeated the purpose of it.
So, on Woot, a deal a day type of website, I picked up a Plantronics 22 bluetooth headset. It just came in today. Too bad it is DOA. See, I plug it in and the status indicator is supposed to stay a steady red. Mine flickers a bit and turns off. Here’s a video:
Oh well.
360 Problems Already
So about a week now I’ve had my xbox 360. It’s all well in good. But I’ve had a few issues.
In the The Force Unleashed, there have been a few probably-game related glitches. The first one involved me getting stuck, probably shoddy collision detection coding. Also, every now and then invisible walls keep popping up to the point where I can’t walk. This isn’t be design. This is happening most annoyingly on one of the final parts, the part where you need to pull down the star destroyer. I’m running back and forth on the platform, I go to run back and my character just runs in place. It’s very annoying. Also, I finally get very close to the star destroy being destroyed. Guess what happens. Yup, the system locked up. The 360 doesn’t respond to any in-game calls (start menu button) or system calls (holding down the center button). Great.
Now a more severe issue. It’s not detecting my headset, anymore. It was until tonight. All night my controller kept turning off (one of the batteries might be bad), and then all of a sudden now it doesnt detect the headset all. No one hears me, I hear no one (except through my TV). This is a used controller but a brand new headset. Ugh.
I’ll try again tomorrow and look at my diagnostic options.
